This, the most recent of Toplady's biographies, includes the 340 page biography and a further 358 pages comprising of an anthology of his works.
The biography is good, however the writers theological framework is perhaps slightly too obvious in the text. In particular his distaste for Lawton's biography (which he is right to find fault with due to its arminain bias) is sometimes unbalancing.
Saying that Ella's understanding of Toplady's Calvinism really allows him to understand Toplady's motivations and passions.
